Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course had their first look at the IMSA Lites series with their third round in the morning Saturday with a field of 18 cars. The feeder series is giving young drivers a chance to grow into a sports car driver in the American Le Mans Series. The small prototype cars give a great presentation with the style and three different classes within one race.

Friday was bleak with the cars having to practice in the rain for the first time since the cars showed up at Mid-Ohio. With the first race on Saturday morning the cars finally took the green under partly cloudy skies and a dry track.

When the green flag dropped the field was lead by Adam Pecorari from Cape Motorsports. Conditions were difficult since it was in the low 60’s and teams had trouble with keeping the tire temperatures in the tires. In the L1 class Pecorari had no challenges and lead the race from flag to flag.

In the L2 class was one by Dan McBreen and battled with Mark White for many laps until White landed up in gravel trap. Finishing out the L3 class was Richard Spicer claiming his first professional win. The battle will continue on Sunday at 9:40am at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for round four.
