Sebring Winter Test 2007 is complete while we wait for the green flag to drop at the Mobil One Twelve Hours of Sebring. Since its inception, the public receives its first view on new technology of what will be competing in the new season. This year the Acura prototype was the car that everyone has traveled to see.  They will be competing in the P2 class with three different teams. Not to be outdone, Porsche also released a new version of the RS Spyder and 911 GT3 RSR 997.

American Le Mans Series 2007 Schedule

Today at the State of the Series at Road Atlanta the 2007 American Le Mans Series was announced. Three new markets will be part of their marketing strategy to give a new view to fans around North America. The series is also expanding to a 12-race schedule versus the 10 in 2006. Five rounds will take place before the break for the teams that head over the pond for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Heading North of the Border For American Le Mans Action

The American Le Mans Series headed north of the border for it’s only visit to Canada this year. Unfortunately, those traveling north for the race with the hidden hope of getting out of the way of Tropical Storm Ernesto, only had it follow them to the Toronto area. Saturday found a day of rain and cold conditions with the series canceling qualifying as conditions worsened throughout the day. However, the start of the race on Sunday brought clear skies as the cars hit the track on this high-speed circuit.

Road America will be the stomping ground for the 7th round of the American Le Mans Series as it rolls into action again. This historical track has beautiful scenery and gives the fan an excellent viewing spectacle. The cars will be at peak performance with temperatures being in the mid to high 70’s this weekend. Temperatures will play a huge difference compared to the last two rounds of the series.

The inaugural Utah Grand Prix started on Saturday night with a peak temperature of 111 degrees as the green flag dropped. A good crowd was on hand to see their first American Le Mans Series race on this hot blistering day. It was also the second time that the American public got to view the new battle between the Audi R10 and Penske Porsche.

The American Le Mans Series crosses the country to make their first visit to the new Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City Utah. Teams will be faced from going from the shortest circuit on the schedule to the longest. This new 4.5 mile 22 turn natural terrain road course will have plenty of room for all four classes to spread out around the track.

Close wheel-to-wheel action is to be expected as the prototypes make their way through the busy traffic. This race the spectator will be able to witness the final chapter of the Audi R8 after years of dominance.
