The American Le Mans Series crosses the country to make their first visit to the new Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City Utah. Teams will be faced from going from the shortest circuit on the schedule to the longest. This new 4.5 mile 22 turn natural terrain road course will have plenty of room for all four classes to spread out around the track.

Returning from over the pond will be the Audi R10 diesels to replace the recently retired R8, which picked up its 50th American Le Mans Series victory last week. Dyson Racing will have their hands full as they go up against the 24 Hours of Le Mans champions. Also do not count out the Penske Spyder on this new smooth racetrack with the extra months of development since Sebring.

After the accident at Lime Rock Park with the BK Motorsports Mazda and one of the Risi Ferrari F430’s are missing off the official entry list for Salt Lake City. We have to look out to see if these teams will get the parts fast enough for them to compete this Saturday. Van der Steur Racing is also not on the entry list as they get their new Radical SR 9 LMP2 ready for Road America.

The GT1 battle should be exciting with added weight on the Corvette we saw one of the closest GT1 battles ever. Aston Martin Racing has just tasted victory and will be ready to go head to head with the Pratt & Miller Team again. In GT2 there is the most complete competition and any of these cars have the ability to win any given race. Panoz and Porsche have found victory circle this year as we still wait for BMW and Ferrari to strike.

Three teams have a car a piece missing making the whole field at 22 cars on the official entry list for now. In GT2 rumor had it that Team Lexus would have one car ready for Lime Rock and then two for Salt Lake City. It seems that they do not have the cars ready to go into the highly competitive GT2 class at this time and are not on the Portland entry list as yet either.

As the American Le Mans Series heads into the half way point of the season there is a lot of exciting racing left in the year. The American public receives their second view of the exciting new diesel power plant inside the Audi R10 as they continue for the rest of the season. The GT2 battle will be the story of the season with all of their competition the battle should go into the last race of the season at Monterey.
