The Flying Lizard Motorsports squad’s No. 45 and No. 44 Porsches had the second and fourth fastest times in GT2, respectively, at Lime Rock in today’s qualifying session. Wolf Henzler had the second fastest GT2 time in the No. 45 Porsche (53.660 on the 1.54 mile course). Teammate Lonnie Pechnik qualified the team’s No. 44 Porsche fourth in class, with a time of 53.886. The No. 45 Porsche did not pass post-qualification technical inspection because a rear-wing height exceeded IMSA specifications. As a result, the No. 45 will start from the rear of the ten-car GT2 pack.

The Lizard driver lineup at Lime Rock will be Johannes van Overbeek and Wolf Henzler in the No. 45 and Lonnie Pechnik and Seth Neiman in the No. 44. With three ALMS podium finishes in a row, including their first win of the season at Mid-Ohio in May, the Lizards are currently leading in the ALMS GT2 team championship and Johannes is leading in the ALMS GT2 driver championship.

Wolf commented on this afternoon’s practice and qualifying sessions: “The car is handling very well. Traffic on this track is tough, but overall, we had a good qualifying session: the weather cooperated and the track was relatively clean. In this afternoon’s practice session, I was able to build on the work that Johannes and the crew had done earlier in the day. It’s unfortunate that we are starting from the back of the pack, but we have a good, solid race car for tomorrow–it’s going to be an exciting race”

“I’m also very happy with the setup on the No. 44,” added Lonnie. “I’ve had a lot of experience on this racetrack, and it takes a great car, solid driving and a lot of luck to do well here. Although I wish I could have qualified higher, I feel like we are ready for Saturday’s race and I’m looking forward to being back on track with the Lizards.”
