Today at the State of the Series at Road Atlanta the 2007 American Le Mans Series was announced. Three new markets will be part of their marketing strategy to give a new view to fans around North America. The series is also expanding to a 12-race schedule versus the 10 in 2006. Five rounds will take place before the break for the teams that head over the pond for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
St. Petersburg will host the Honda Grand Prix and Round 2 of the American Le Mans Series along with the Indy Racing League. Long Beach Round 3 will take place on Super Saturday and is going to be a 90-100 minute race with one pit stop and driver change. Final addition will be a deal that Roger Penske has worked out with city of Detroit to bring back racing to the Belle Isle Park.
